An interesting, square impressionist view of figures on a path between structures, Clayton Staples studied and painted in various locales around the world, he is most associated with Kansas where he taught and painted and, in 1930, established the Fine Arts department at Wichita State University where a painting studio, scholarship, and gallery are named for him today; this work is displayed in a good hand-carved custom frame of the period, the work is signed in red pigment lower left.
Work measures 11.75 x 11.75, frame is 16 x 16.
Very good original untouched condition. There are no issues of scratches, losses, repairs, in-painting or touch-up.
