The large, stately mahogany case by Colonial Manufacturing, carved openwork crest atop a small cove molded platform between two urn finials over the moon phase dial with revolving hand painted nautical scene fancy hand cut and engraved filigree spandrels, matching filigree over the interior dial, silvered chapter ring overlaid with gilt Arabic numerals, matching seconds bit, two full Corinthian columns on either side of the door, beveled glass, lyre pendulum, nine chime tubes, Westminster chime and likely Whittington chimes as well, signed Winterhalder & Hoffmeier on the dial, signed Colonial Mfg on the case.
Measures 82.5 x 16 x 24.5 inches.
Very good intact running condition at the time of inspection, noting scattered wear and bumps on high points and edges of the case, particularly in the lower areas from vacuum cleaner. We cannot guarantee the running or timekeeping condition of timepieces once removed from the auction premises.
