182: A 16th / 17TH C. RUSSIAN DEISIS ICON WITH BASMA

The traditional depiction of Christ enthroned holding a book flanked by the Virgin Mary and St. John the Baptist, the outer edge embellished by four embossed tin or iron strips tacked in to place as framing, three tin halos, two missing wood splints back side.
Measures 11 x 8, frame is 15 x 13 inches.
Good to very good condition, darkening, patina, untouched surfaces, minor losses.
