A still life composition of corn depicted with the distinctive thick impasto technique unique to Montgomery, and a pumpkin, spilling from a wood stave barrel constructed using bent wood hoops, two ears with their husks and loose kernels scattered around as well. signed lower right, displayed in an oak worm wood frame.
Measures 24 x 36, frame is 29 x 41 inches.
Good untouched condition, noting the loss of some paint in the upper left quadrant, no other major losses, damage or restoration.
Provenance: The Van Dyke family, Marshall, Missouri civic leaders and entrepreneurs conducting business on the Marshall, Missouri square beginning around 1871. Their family collection of Art and Antiques spans more than four generations.
