104: A 19TH CENTURY FRENCH CLOCK SET SIGNED JAPY FRERES
The patinated spelter figure of a classical female figure, perhaps Diana the Huntress, on naturalistic base next to the clock movement with porcelain enamel dial on marble base with ormolu ornaments raised on four toupie feet, the brass time and strike movement signed Japy Freres, two matching urn-form garniture.
Clock measures 18 x 16 x 6.5 inches; urns 10.5 x 4.25 x 4.25 inches.
Intact running condition at the time of inspection, the front right corner and end of the clock's marble base have been repaired with some sort of filler and oversprayed, normal wear of the patination, a very, very tiny edge chip to the dial and an extremely short line at dial edge - neither are visible when the cover is closed, no other chips or hairlines to the dial. We cannot guarantee the running or timekeeping condition of timepieces once removed from the auction premises.
