19: A LAKOTA SIOUX BEADED HIDE DRESS BY CHARLES FAST HORSE

The tale of 'Walks with Bear' expressed by Charles Fast Horse in this ladies buckskin dress with fully lazy stitch beaded shoulder yoke, long sleeve fringe, wide beaded sash, long beaded fringe drops and fringe trim; the beaded portions are an allegory for the tale of Walks with Bear as documented on the letterhead of Prairie Edge, the Santa Fe gallery that pictured this dress in their promotional materials of the day. A copy is included. This dress was purchased from Prairie Edge in the 1980s.
Measures 49.5 in length including the fringe.
Very fine original condition, there are no issues of damage, repair, wear or loss. No indication of wear or use can be found.
