The letter signed Bonaparte, Paris, July 20, 1802, concerns the regrouping and movement of troops with Berthier, Napoleon's Minister of War. Original card from autograph dealer Paul C. Richards verso. The rough translation reads: ''[Upper left] Note to ….[Signed] ...Paris, the 1st of Thermidor [the second month of the summer quarter in the French Republican calendar], Year 10 of the French Republic To the Minister of War, Please, Citizen Minister, give the order to the 8th light brigade to depart in Fructidor [late summer in the French Republican calendar] and secure Nice (8th division) for the garrison. Starting the [?] of Fructidor, there will be more to employ [?] the division of Liguria, that General of the division, an adjutant commander, an aide-de-camp, a captain of genius, a captain of artillery, and a brigade specification. I salute you, Bonaparte......'.'
The letter measures 9 x 7, the frame is 15.5 x 13.25 inches.
Very good original condition, there are no issues of stain, damage or repair. Light scattered areas of foxing.
