The graphite and watercolor depiction on paper of Dante's tragic lovers Paolo and Francesca was exhibited in Paris in 1921 and New York in 1922. It hails from the other side of Rose O'Neill's oeuvre where no Kewpies can be found.
It was reproduced in 'The Smart Set' Magazine, vol XXV #2, October 1911 and most recently exhibited at the Brandywine River Museum in Chadds Ford Pennsylvania, America's foremost museum and collection of illustration Art in 1993. O'Neill's signature is most prominent on the lower right front corner but was originally less prominently displayed on the lower left where it is still partially visible.

Sight size 26 x 19.25, the frame measures 37.5 x 30 inches.
Apparently the condition is very good, very clean, intact, no visible stain, damage, repair, punctures or tears. This work has not been examined outside the frame.
Provenance: The estate of Rose O'Neill (#9002/3) to Robert Haas of Kansas City, Missouri in 1986.
