The free standing beast is depicted in a sinuous shape with head reared upwards teeth bared. The body is predominately red in color with green and blue highlights the surface of the red areas are gilt highlighting the scales. An item presented to wish the recipient good fortune, the fact that the beast has four claws would in an earlier period indicate that this belonged to a mandarin class person.
Measures 8 x 10 inches.
Very good condition. There are no chips, noting a glaze flaw as shown and flaw or flake to application above one eye.
