16: A LARGE GUSTAVE LEVY FRENCH EMPIRE GILDED BRONZE CLOCK

The tower form case surmounted by a domed cornice, topped by a dore bronze urn with matte finish highlights, the area below centered by the white enamel dial with hand painted Roman numeral chapter ring, ornate pierced hands, and the maker's name and location all enclosed by a glass door above a plaque of scrolling vinery flanked by putti above wreath enwrapping a torch en flambeau, the outset base of plinth form enclosing guilloché centered by circular medallion; all raised on finely cast splayed paw feet.

Signed G.J. LEVY (Gustave Levy) RUE SEVIGNE 29 PARIS on the dial and on the time and strike brass plate movement.
Measures 27 x 14 x 7 inches.
Very good intact running condition at the time of inspection. Very good condition, noting the replacement of one beaded elliptical hoop ornament proper left side, very minor bit of chipping at the top winding mandrel, no other chips, cracks or repairs to the dial, no other damage, wear or repair. We cannot guarantee the running or timekeeping condition of timepieces once removed from the auction premises.
