78: ENSIGN BUCHER, PACIFIC CARRIER, KILLED MID-AIR CRASH

Paul D. Bucher, Ensign, USN. Entered active service as an enlisted man in 1940. He was assigned to the aircraft carrier Saratoga serving in the Pacific. Assigned to flight school in 1943. Commissioned Ensign, USN. Assigned to VF84 flying a F4U Corsair. He was killed in a mid-air collision on 9 May 1944.
