4: LT. HOLT PAINTED A-2 JACKET B-24 SMOKEY CITY 8TH AAF

A good painted WWII era A-2 bomber jacket with painted leather insignia, wings, named for 2nd Lieutenant Carl H. Holt, USAAF 448th Bombardment Squadron, 8th AAF European Theatre. Carl Holt joined the 715th Squadron on 15 July, 1944 with the famed 8th USAAF as a pilot on the B-24 Smokey City. He flew numerous missions over Germany and France, earning the Air Medal and Distinguished Flying Cross. When the 448th was de-activated in 1946, he was returned to duty during the Korean War. He flew spy missions as co-pilot from England over Russia during the 1950s and 1960s.
