Sgt. Homer Jack Akers, AAC, 54th Fighter Squadron, 11th USAAC, Aleutian Islands.Good Conduct Medal; American Defense Medal; American Campaign Medal; Asiatic Pacific Campaign with one bronze star; Marksmanship Badge, Carbine. Sgt. Homer Akers entered active military duty on 27 Oct 1941. Following basic training, he earned a MOS as an Ammunition Supply Technician, and was transferred to Alaska. He was assigned to the 11th AAC from 16 May 1942 to 13 Jul 1944, seeing action in the Aleutian Islands. As a ground crew member, he was responsible for the resupply of ammo to the P-38's at Alexai Point Army Airfield. He was discharged on 21 Oct 1945.
