97: WWII ARMY SGT LEWIE CRAWFORD UNIFORM GROUPING

Sergeant Lewie E. Crawford, 9th Service Command, U.S. Army, European Theatre. He entered active military duty on 28 February 1941. After basic training he was assigned to North Africa on 19 July 1943 with the 5th Army. While under attack by enemy aircraft, he manned a -caliber machine gun and disabled the aircraft. Following training as a cook, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Upon return to the US on 18 March 194, he was assigned to the 9th Service Command as an MP. He was discharged 4 October 1945.
