43: A RARE 19TH CENTURY CAST IRON HORSE HEAD HITCHING POST

An unusual version of the popular horse head hitching post form, the two-piece casting in folky detail and with very good red and black paint of the period, if not original; the wood portion of the period hewn from a single log to conform with the iron mount.
Measures 58 x 10.5 inches, excluding stand.
Very good original condition, there are no issues of damage or repair to the iron portion, the wood portion is good as well with iron strap reinforcement as shown.
