15: A RARE FOLK ART IRON MONKEY SHOOTING GALLERY TARGET

The cast iron depiction of a long-tailed monkey posed in an animated upright stance with outstanding surface of old iron and old paint shot-peened for years by lead pellets to create the rare and interesting patina found only on shooting gallery targets. The base construction of this knockdown target suggests an attribution to William Mangels of Coney Island, NY, circa early 20th century.

Pictured on page 17 of Sellers' book (Figure 1.12) and on inside rear cover.
Displayed on custom iron stand.
Measures 9.75 x 8.5 inches, excluding stand.
Very good original shooting gallery condition in old park paint with outstanding patina. There are no issues of damage or repair.
