A RARE FOLK ART RABBIT SPINNER SHOOTING GALLERY TARGET

134: A RARE FOLK ART RABBIT SPINNER SHOOTING GALLERY TARGET

The figure of a rabbit perched on her haunches with white body and red ears, nose and tail in old park paint. This rare figure is part of the spinner family of targets that rotated on a central pivot point when the bullseye was struck. Her surface has an interesting golf ball-like shot-peened pattern around the bullseye and head with dry paint and oxidation. All four Chicago target makers advertised this target including Evans on page 69 Gallery K of their catalog described as a 'turn over target' on page 79, part number 141; in Hoffmann's catalog as a 'Revolving Rabbit' part number 37; a Mueller catalog as a 'Revolving Rabbit'; and Smith catalog as a 'Revolving Rabbit.'

Pictured on page 74 of Sellers' book (Figure 5.24).
Displayed on custom iron stand.
Measures 17.25 x 8.75 inches, excluding stand.
Very good shooting gallery target condition throughout, no damage, repair or unexpected wear.
