17: A 19TH C CONTINENTAL OIL ON PANEL PICTURE FRAME CLOCK

A circa 1840 oil on panel landscape with village church and cattle grazing in foreground, figures on a path to the left that leads to a village below the church. The church tower with onion dome spire fitted with a clock dial. The time only movement is wound by pull string on the right side and chime on demand by pull string from left side. Once wound, a simple wood lever at the bottom of the case starts the pendulum. Measures 29 x 34.75 x 4.25 inches.
Good chiming condition. Time keeping potential is unknown. The movement is intact and presumably operable. Cosmetically good, minor details of age and use.
