242: TWO 19TH CENTURY FIRKINS IN OLD PAINT/LABEL
The larger more primitive example with wood staves bound in wood bands with finger laps secured by iron tacks and domed head nails, bentwood bail handle on carved wood peg, nice old dry surface of red paint. The smaller with the remains of an old printed advertising label reading 'Mince Meat' constructed with thick tongue and groove wood staves bound in wood bands with finger laps, bentwood bail handle affixed with a wooden peg, nice, dry old green paint.
Measure 1 x 12 and x 0.5 inches.
Very good condition with signs of wear and use commensurate with age. The red piece has an old repair using iron tacks on the bottom band.
