MULLER / HERSCHEDE STYLE GRANDFATHER CLOCK C. 1900

40: MULLER / HERSCHEDE STYLE GRANDFATHER CLOCK C. 1900

The mahogany case with original finish and original finials atop the bonnet with broken arch pediment, arched door with brass escutcheon is flanked by two full turned columns, applied scrolling arches over the central door with beveled glass, beveled glass sides, the cabinet base with raised panels is set on carved paw feet. The case design is very similar to Herschede model no. 7 (see Tran Du Ly long case clocks page 257). The movement signed Muller & Co. (Lion Mark with letters U.M.) Germany is fronted by a brass dial with filigree spandrels, silvered chapter ring, applied brass numerals, scroll cut filigree brass center and silvered seconds bit. Moon phase dial above with hand painted moon phase scenes. Five chiming tubes strike on the quarter hour, half-hour and hour with time strike. Measures 103 x 27 x 17.5 inches. All original case finish and all other components.
Very good original fully operational working condition. Winds, runs and chimes. This clock had not been moved in 50 years and thus all the tube hangers required replacement, otherwise all original and untouched. A strong running clock, once in our facility it was placed on a flat dolly for safe moving to and from photography. After being rolled out of photography this clock was sent to storage where it ran for days while standing on a four wheeled moving dolly. Unfortunately, in the event of moving and shipping, we cannot guarantee the running condition of timepieces post sale following movement and shipping.
