1: AN EXUBERANTLY DECORATED CHURN SIGNED HAMILTON & JONES

The stoneware churn with pronounced top rim over collar and incised line with bead all highlighted in blue slip over two lug handles and the slightly swollen body with thick cobalt blue slip decoration of dancing stars surrounded by freehand arrangements of dashes and squiggles above a larger squiggle that divides the body with the maker's name of 'Hamilton & Jones, Greensboro' above a cobalt blue band and numeral 4 bracketed by leaves above more decoration, salt glaze.
Measures 14.75 x 8.5 inches.
Very fine condition. There are no chips, cracks or repairs. Clean and nice with only very minor firing or manufacturing flaws under very close scrutiny.
