Christy is perhaps best known as an illustrator famous for the Christy Girl, his depictions of 'modern' Edwardian women at the turn of the last century. His output of record actually portrays an artist capable of serious historical depictions, painterly pastoral scenes and allegorical compositions with provocative undertones. His painting titled 'The Signing of the Constitution of the United States' hangs in the capitol in Washington DC.
Canvas measures 35 x 40, frame measures 36 x 40.75 inches.
Very good original untouched condition, there are no issues of damage, repair, serious scratches or losses. Examination under UV light confirms there has been no restoration or inpainting.
Provenance: Handed down through three generations of a Kansas City family.
