493: A 17TH CENTURY CARVED AND PANELED OAK COFFER

The paneled coffer of pegged construction with hinged lid over rectangular case, carved frieze above four raised front panels, frame and stiles all decorated in heavy bas relief foliate carving, paneled ends, wrought iron hinges and lock tang in the lid.
Measures 27 x 50 x 22 inches.
Good to fair condition with considerable losses, reinforcements, splits and wood loss commensurate with age and use as depicted in the images.
