472: ANTIQUE MOSAIC LID INKWELL AND SAMURAI HELMET INKWELL

The first being a cut and polished crystal inkwell on stepped wood base with debossed covering decorated in floral reserves and gilding and black amethyst glass cover with similar covering and mosaic plaque encircled by faceted black glass 'jewels.'

Plus a silver plated well in the form of a Samurai helmet with figural Oni and milk glass insert, no markings found.

The Oni is a supernatural ogre, or troll from Japanese folklore.
Measure 3.5 x 5 x 4 and 3 x 4 x 2 inches.
Very good condition, noting considerable wear to the covering of the mosaic example, the insert is free from chips, nicks, cracks or repairs.

The silver plated example is in very good condition and free from damage, wear or repair.
