427: AN EXCEPTIONAL PETTIPOINT PURSE WITH HAND ENGRAVED FRAME

The very, very high quality example with a number of exceptional details ranking above and beyond any similar examples; the ballet theme begins with an elaborate and highly detailed petit point embroidery view of twenty-two figures engaged in a ballet stage production (Swan Lake?) on one side, a similar scene on the opposite side; the frame of exceptional quality is presented as a musical staff with notes that are embellished with prong-set marcasites, the clasp (a figural ballerina) is constructed by hand in two parts, every bit of decoration on the frame is engraved by hand, the frame is most likely rhodium plated, the interior is kid leather, no markings were found.
Purse measures 8 x 9.5 inches, 6.5-inch drop from the handle.
Very, very good condition throughout, apparently unused, no damage, repair or wear.
