389: A RARE 19TH C. BALOUCH SAMPLER WITH CONTINOUS WARP

The red field with all over offset rows of plants within a brown and ivory reciprocal trefoil border remains connected to a bag face with blue field and cruciform central lozenge within a red stepped surround supported by stylized flowerheads framed by a coral border enclosing continuous diagonal bars linked by hooked vines, nice wool and brilliant jewel tones, wide skirts with embroidery, circa third quarter of the 19th century. This could also have been made as a dowrie piece or to be used as a book cover.
Measures 33 x 16 inches generally overall.
Very fine condition. Clean and odor free with intact edges, no damage, repair or stain, nice pile overall. wide skirts with some tattering.
