512: A CHINESE PORCELAIN CHARGER WITH DRAGON, FLAMING PEARL

The 19th century porcelain charger decorated principally with a sinuous and scaly dragon chasing the Flaming Pearl, the opposite side with similar decoration and base with three-character mark, possibly that of the painter.

In fable, the Flaming Pearl represents the sun, and if the dragon were to actually trap it, the sun would be extinguished.
Measures 15.5 x 3 inches.
Very good condition, noting two glaze issues on the rim. One, if not both, are original glaze misses. There are no other chips, cracks, repairs, scratches or areas of heavy wear.
