361: TWO ICONIC EARLY 20TH CENTURY QUACK MEDICAL DEVICES

The oak cased device with drop front mounted with two applied metal foot plates and equipped with a high tech looking coil, switches, a couple batteries and some wires along with a tag identifying it as THE ROCHE ELECTRIC HYGIENIC MACHINE...PATENTED JAN. 19, 1915.

The FDA ordered a cease and desist to Roche in 1941 over his claims that the machine 'was a cure or effective treatment for paralysis, locomotor ataxia, apoplexy, rheumatism, gout, high blood pressure or hardening of the arteries, or that it would be an effective substitute for exercise; would insure perfect blood circulation, restore health, renew vitality or prove effective for weakness in any vital organ.'

A unit equally useless from a medical standpoint known as RenuLife Violet Ray Health Generator Model R, 'Pat. Sept. 30. 1919' is included along with its fancy hollow glass applicators.
Measure 5.5 x 15 x 10.5 and 14.5 x 5.5 x 17 inches.
