355: AN INTERESTING, HIGHLY CARVED FOLK ART DOG HEAD CANE

The highly carved walking stick with three-dimensional dog's head knob upon a shaft covered in more than 40 carved motifs in very high relief, some embellished in colors and brass tacks. The imagery includes a coffin with brass tacks, Masonic symbols, Masonic Columns, horse collar, harness hames, wheat sheave, fish, snakes, a spoke shave, anchor with rope, bee skep, book, cornucopia, broad axe, owl on post, trowel, Noah's ark, walk-behind plow, crescent moon with face, ladder, goose, mallet, and much more, plus some faint written verse of, 'I am master's dog true, who-s dog are you.'
Measures 37 inches long.
Very good condition. There are no chips, cracks, repairs, scratches or areas of heavy wear.
