ARCHIVE OF FAMED SANTA FE ENGINEER J.A BURKE BORN 1883

20: ARCHIVE OF FAMED SANTA FE ENGINEER J.A BURKE BORN 1883

The large estate archive of famed engineer and supervisor of air brakes John A. Burke, who piloted the maiden run of the Santa Fe Super Chief streamliner in 1936. Burke is famously seen leaning out the left cab window of the Super Chief in countless Santa Fe promotional materials and his 1930s uniform and cap from that day are included here. Note that this uniform has the National Recovery Act label inside with blue eagle. The blue eagle dates these labels to 1933-1935 only. Plus a framed photomechanical print of a Santa Fe streamliner piloted by J.A. Burke wearing the cap in this lot. There are also numerous passes, organization medals, ribbons and personal effects like his Hamilton model 992 railroad grade pocket watch in good running condition adjusted to five positions with 21 jewels, double roller and lever set, serial number 2403148. The dial is perfect and free from damage chip, stain, crack or repair.
Very good condition throughout.
