81: A BRONZE AND IRON LOCOMOTIVE BELL ATTRIBUTED AT&SF

The bronze bell in iron yoke with flat iron 'roll bar' atop the yoke and side mount Viloco air ringer remains, the bell bears the stamped letters 'A T & & SF RY' on its top. most likely by a previous owner rather than the railroad, plus a different die struck three digit numeral of 849 on the opposite side top, possibly an engine number. The photo reprint included here is of Santa Fe engine 849, a suggestion that this may be a photograph of this bell in service.
Measures 33.5 x 26 inches. Diameter is 18 inches.
A crack in the casting on one side of the yoke, oxidation and the effects of age and exposure.
