83: A BRONZE AND IRON LOCOMOTIVE BELL ATTRIBUTED AT&SF

The bronze bell in iron yoke with flat iron 'roll bar' atop the yoke and the remains of a side mount Viloco air ringer, the bell bears the stamped letters 'A T & SF RY' on its top. most likely by a previous owner rather than the railroad, plus a different die struck four digit numeral of 1698 on the opposite side top, possibly an engine number. Images of stamped markings top of the bell indicate this originated with an engine having 10 total wheels, 24 is code for cylinder size (17 inches in this case) 1/4 meant a truck on each end, C indicates two drive axles, 134 was the 134th engine of its class.
Measures 29 x 30 inches. Diameter is 17 inches.
Very good condition, noting oxidation and the effects of age and exposure.
