The crotch mahogany veneer on ogee frame with mirror plate topped by an eglomise tablet of reverse painted glass picturing a frigate in the foreground fighting under the American Flag and a man-of -war flying the British flag. This patriotic American painting is likely commemorating the war of 1812 and is framed by a reverse painted border of gold acanthus leaves detailed in red pigments on cream ground.
