40: A MID 20TH C. BRASS CASKET WITH HAND ENGRAVED DETAIL

The shaped form with brass openwork backed by translucent red material over textured ground to simulate guilloche enamel, the unknown red material appears to be a lacquer, the 'S' scrolls and frame are all embellished with hand engraved decoration of foliate and florals.
Measures 4.5 x 5 x 7.5 inches.
Very good condition, noting cracks, splits and deterioration of the red material, no frame damage or repair.
