209: CAROLINE HODGSON'S 1823 SAMPLER WITH CHENILLE

Th cross stitch sampler with saw tooth border, stitched sample rows of letters and numerals in red, pink, brown and green above an eight line verse, maker's name and age of 11 years over decorative strawberries, flowers with silk chenille effects, a girl frolicking with King Charles Spaniel and flower baskets, displayed in a fine, wide bird's eye maple frame.
Measures 27.25 x 22.5 inches.
Very good condition, noting some visible toning, light stain, very good color including pinks and reds that are typically fugitive. This has not been examined outside the frame.
