164: A PAIR PARCEL GILT BRONZE CANDELABRA AFTER CLODION

(Third quarter of the 19th century.)
The Louis XVI style proper pair with patinated putto on rouge marble base with ormolu frieze holding aloft in each hand branches of gilded bronze acanthi supporting two-light candle cups, signed Clodion in the casting of each figure for the original creator Claude Michel Clodion (1738-1814).
Measure 26.5 x 12.5 x 9 inches.
Very good condition, noting three to five scattered nicks to the top edge of the base of each, larger chips from the underside of the base of one, one replaced foot.
Provenance: The multi-generation collection of an early Kansas City family in the same home since 1962.
