ARTHUR KRAFT (1922-1977) ACRYLIC ON BOARD

40: ARTHUR KRAFT (1922-1977) ACRYLIC ON BOARD

Arthur M. Kraft (1922-1977)
Untitled Netherworldish View (Third quarter of the 20th century.)
The acrylic on Masonite by Kansas City's most fascinating artist of the late 20th century, perhaps of all time. His life took him from being named one of Ten Outstanding Young Americans in 1954 to treatment at State Lunatic Asylum No. 2 in St. Joseph, Missouri. His oeuvre primarily consists of brightly colored figurative abstract compositions. On rare occasion introspective works like this are found.

The back side retains an interesting abandoned collage project by Kraft. No signature has been found on either side. Unframed.
Measures 36 x 48 inches.
Very good original condition, there are no issues of damage or repair.
Provenance: Felix Landau Gallery. Landau family, by descent
$500 - $1,000
