The large woodcut print with pochoir-like stenciled coloring of red, white and blue depicts a French Gallic rooster trouncing a Prussian eagle and is signed in pencil by the artist middle right side with the edition numbered as 109 from an edition of 500 prints. The rooster is surrounded by vignettes depicting German atrocities as well as French heroes from history. The composition originally appeared in the patriotic French magazine Le Mot no 13 published March 6, 1915 serving as French propaganda early in the conflict.
Measures 18 x 24 frame is 23.5 x 30 inches.
Very good to fine condition, the full untrimmed sheet, not laid down, no damage, stain, puncture or repair.
