A ROD BACK WINDSOR ARM CHAIR IN OLD RED PAINT C. 1800

137: A ROD BACK WINDSOR ARM CHAIR IN OLD RED PAINT C. 1800

The simple rod back arm chair in old period red paint, it appears to have initially been a cream milk paint, the current surface with good alligatoring, wear, grime; a hand written note on laid paper dated 1879 is affixed to the underside of the seat and covered with sheets of mica held in place by tacks. The note tracks the family history of the chair beginning at a public sale in Pennsylvania 'about the year 1828' and details how and where it was used through the next public sale in 1853 until the date of the note, October of 1879.
Measures 33 x 19 x 19 inches.
Very good original condition, there are no issues of damage or repair, obvious commensurate wear, patina, the effects of age and use to a reasonable degree, good surface overall.
