An 18th century style Queen Anne high-backed settee upholstered in antique rust velvet and French needlework tapestry. Measures 48 x 69 x 31.5 inches with a seat height of 16.5 inches. Provenance: the Post Foundation Art Library. Library records list this piece as having come from the British Embassy in Washington D.C. It is through a series of Missouri to Washington connections that this piece came to Mrs. Post who , after seeing a similar piece in Connoisseur Magazine had it re-upholstered as seen here.
