Signed lower left and dated 1892, an exhibition tag verso reads, " From the gallery of Col. J. N. H. Patrick a figure study by Georges Langee, exhibited in the Paris Salon in 1892. The model in this figure being the same as used by Dupree in his famous Haying Scene. The figure in the foreground and represents a milkmaid returning from her labors of milking the cows and is one of Langee’s famous studies of peasant life in Normandie." Col. J. N. H. Patrick was a prominent resident of Omaha, Nebraska and state senator. The canvas measures approximately 17 x 15 inches, frame measures 29 x 27 inches.
Excellent original condition, slightly dry and presumably lightly soiled, no appearance of touch-up or in-painting detected under UV light, no current scratches, punctures, tears, losses or repairs. No relining or strip lining.
