48: A UNIQUE LOUIS XVI BRONZE STAND WITH PORCELAIN PLAQUES

A very attractive center table comprised of two unrelated objects from the 19th century. The base, an exceptional bronze group of three patinated bronze putti with their backs to one another against a gilt bronze column of twisted form topped by acanthus and standing on a fluted socle with floral garlands and an acanthus trim raised on three scrolling acanthus feet all well cast and finished in fine detail throughout. The base is fitted with a 19th century circular table top bordered by fifteen hand painted porcelain plaques depicting children in variety of pursuits silhouetted against a soft gold ground and each framed in bronze mounted on gilded wood, the frame centered by a mirror plate with beveled edge. Measures 26.5 x 27 inches. Provenance: The Joseph Candioto Trust. We ship in-house for all items with the exception of very large and or very fragile pieces and some international shipments.
Very good condition. The base in fine original condition free from damage, repair, re-gilding or discoloration. The top is very good noting minor chipping, cracks loss of the gilded and gessoed surface.
