EGYPTIAN REVIVAL GILT AND PATINATED BRONZE CANDELABRA

93: EGYPTIAN REVIVAL GILT AND PATINATED BRONZE CANDELABRA

A pair of late 19th to early 20th century French Empire Egyptian Revival gilt bronze and patinated figural candelabra, each modeled as a female figure in Egyptian attire standing on a patinated bronze obelisk decorated with gilt figural appliques and neo-classical designs, all raised on four Empire style paw feet on a concave sided base; the figure surmounted by four scrolled candle arms terminating in ram and wolf heads issuing from a gilt bronze urn, further surmounted by two scrolling arms and a central candle cup top flanked by figural classical maidens back to back. Measures 32 x 13 inches. Provenance: The Joseph Candioto Trust. We ship in-house for all items with the exception of very large and or very fragile pieces and some international shipments.
Updated Condition report: There is an unexplained hole in the base lower front, probably a lost decoration, front of base only. The arms of one show porocity as if there has been a solder repair. Missing seven of fourteen bobeche, two slightly misshapen arms, otherwise very good condition, noting some scattered areas of light wear and small spots of minor discoloration of minimal consequence. One candelabra has four replacement screws of later vintage as seen under the base.
