109: MONUMENTAL 19C. FRENCH BRONZE CANDELABRA WITH GEMSTONES

An important pair of monumental 19th century French bronze candelabra, each with a circular acanthus adorned foot supporting four cast juvenile figures playing musical instruments sitting back-to-back and divided by scrolling brackets headed by a feline mask; the stem of an orb set with carnelian agate and amethyst colored semi-precious stones rising to a smooth columnar shaft encircled by serpent with acanthus knop over a bejeweled flange and having a spherical capital with cast masks and winged figures, surmounted by an orb with applied gilt-cast petal and leaf adornments issuing eight acanthus-headed scrolling reeded arms dressed with crystal pendulums terminating in foliate drip pans and stiff leaf nozzles surmounted by a musical playing maiden figure. Very good condition noting minor misshapen decorative elements with the figural surmounts, minor soiling and discoloration, mismatched bobeche.
