162: EMILE LOUIS PICAULT (1833-1915) BRONZE EGYPTIAN FIGURES

A pair of cast bronze standing figures in Egyptian attire, the High Priest Hierogrammate holding a rouge marble canopic jar and bronze stylus; the Scribe Pastophore holding a rouge marble offering, each golden brown patina figure standing on rouge griotte marble finished with a polished black slate base. Both signed 'Picault' on the bronze base at top of the proper right and proper left rear corners. The pair have been converted to electric table lamps. The actual sculptures measure 21 and 20 inches exclusive of any lamp fittings. The total height including lamp fittings and shades equals 34 inches. Provenance: The Joseph Candioto Trust. We ship in-house for all items with the exception of very large and or very fragile pieces and some international shipments.
Good overall condition, noting a large chip from the slate portion of the proper left front corner of the scribe Hierogrammate's base. Very minor wear and bumps to other marble and slate corners. The scribe is slightly bent, there are no other issues with the objects in the figure's hands. The surface of each is mellow though somewhat uneven in places and the majority of gilding is worn away. Good condition overall without damage, abuse, heavy wear.
