254: A LARGE FINE 19TH C. FRENCH EMPIRE MANTLE CLOCK

An ormolu bronze clock surmounted by classically draped maiden with sword seated on a recamier above the clock dial with swan and dolphin spandrels around the laurel wreath frame encircling an engine turned clock face with black Roman numerals; all on a rectangular plinth fronted by a plaque depicting a roman soldier addressing a woman lounging on a recamier. The time and strike movement with single chime bell is unsigned. Measures 24.5 x 15.5 inches. The time keeping condition is not known. Provenance: The Joseph Candioto Trust. Very good condition, the original finish intact noting minor variation in tone of the base. Very good condition overall free from damage, repair or replacement.
