116: A 19 C. EMPIRE STYLE BRONZE MOUNTED BED AND CHAMBERPOT

Late 19th century bed with half-tester, the headboard with arched pediment above a molded edge supporting engine-turned urn-form flame finials and centering gilt-bronze mount of chariot scene, flanked on each side by a column with cast swan's-head capital in repose, the scrolled foot-board of conforming design, rails applied on all sides with gilt-bronze mounts of palmettes, sphinx, waterlilies and the mask of Minerva, the whole raised on four winged lion busts upon paw feet. Chamber Pot having circular Patricia green marble top over cylindrical carcass fitted with single door raised on four cylindrical tapering legs joining circular undertier and headed by cast swan's heads and terminating in cast paw feet. The bed measures 68.5 x 91 x 56.5 inches. Chamberpot measures 34 x 18 inches. This lot was originally offered without reserve in our July 8, 2016 auction. The buyer, a Manhattan auction house owner and television show furniture appraiser, never paid for his purchases. As a result, this property from the Joseph Candioto Trust is being offered again without reserve.
