96: A FINE KPM PLAQUE 'THE THREE FATES', AFTER THUMANN

A finely painted scene of the partially draped Clotho standing in the center measuring the thread of life from a spindle, Lachesis seated to her left holds a loose bouquet of flowers and the elder Atropos is seated to her right with shears in her hand; representing three stages of life, the youth holding a spool of thread, middle age holding a floral bouquet with laurel branch and the thread, and elderly holding cutting shears reaching for the thread of life. Displayed within a rectangular frame and mat with gold fillet. Impressed letters of KPM with sceptre mark and numerals verso as shown. Plaque measure 9.25 x 6.25 inches, frame 15.5 x 12.75 inches.
