A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE 19TH C. SEVRES CASKET

108: A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE 19TH C. SEVRES CASKET

The cartouche shape dresser box with a high dome cover centered by a hand painted scene of 18th century courtly couples in an interior setting signed Collinet; and bordered within a pronounced gold decorated cobalt blue billowing frame of conforming shape within the ormolu bezel; the base lavishly decorated in gold enamels of florals, musical instruments and intricate reserves of landscape views framed in stylized palms all on cobalt ground. Marked on the underside of the base with the blue Louis Phillipe 1846 circular mark, the red Chateau des Tuileries and green underglaze Sevres mark. A deteriorated satin covered insert and/original key are included. Measures 8 x 17 inches. Provenance: The Joseph Candioto Trust.
We ship in-house for all items with the exception of very large and or very fragile pieces and some international shipments.
Good condition noting crazing overall and glaze flakes on the cover at each end around the radius of the swell just above the brass bezel. The cover has lines across the top that appear to some as restoration. The presence of crazing all across this area both inside and out make restoration in this area implausible. Guaranteed condition as described, there are no undisclosed chips, cracks or repairs, no rubs scratches or issues beyond the aforementioned glaze flakes.
