224: A 19TH CENTURY S. PAYSON BOSTON MARITIME COMPASS

Gimbal mounted 6.75 inch compass with dry card face marked 'S. Payson, Boston,' copper and brass bowl. Magnetized needle attached to the back of the card is corroded and may be the reason the compass does not find north. In original wooden case, measures 6 x 10 x 10 inches.
